Since 14 January, 2005 changes in the Financial Services Regulations mean that insurance business can be dealt with only by regulated companies. The administration of buildings insurance (including collection of premiums and claims handling) are therefore now dealt with directly by Compton Insurance Services Limited who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. However, the amount of the buildings insurance premium continues to appear as an item of expenditure in all service charge accounts.
